HURRICANE MATTHEW

FELIZ CUMPLE ANOS A TI!!!! BUENO A MI MAMI!!!!! TE AMO TANTO MAMI!!! :)))
For those of you who don't know it's my moms birthday today!! Call her and sing to her and give her lots of hugs and kisses for me! :))))
My mom is the most amazing woman I have met or come to know in my whole life. She is an amazing example of Christ like love and all of His attributes.. I give thanks to her for all that I know today and all that I am! She is the strongest woman that I've had the privilege to learn from and I am grateful for her faith! If you guys need a good pick-me-up or just a best friend my mom is the person for you! I love you mommy! Hope your day is the bestest! :))
Alsoooo…Happy Birthday in advance to my sisterrrrr DEENA KAYE!!!! I love you! On the 12th you guys can all call her and sing to her as well and tell her that I love her and do a little jig for me! :)) Deena has been my role model for years and my twin in everything (too much in the right mind) I love her and I am grateful for her enthusiasm and never ending support in all that I choose to do! :))
So this week was hurricane Matthew… wow lots and lots of rain and wind and more rain. I have gotten used to looking like a wet poodle while contacting! :) Here in the capital there wasn't too much damage but a few of our investigators houses filled up with water like whole neighbourhoods filled up to our armpits.. it was crazy..we spent a few nights helping people haul water out of their houses and clean and other things like that. A lot of our Haitian investigators have all their family in Haiti and still haven't heard from them if they are okay.. because the hurricane hit harder in Haiti. but please keep them all in your prayers and I know the Lord will bless us all! :)))
One day this week we spent the whole day in the clinic with all the missionaries that are new to finish doing their visas..and because my companion is new, we spent all day there. I met some really cool people while there from all over the world and was able to talk to them about the gospel! :)) There are opportunities everywhere to share this amazing gospel! :)))
We are struggling to find new progressing investigators so my companion and I came up with some new ways to find peole through our ward members. We prayed and fasted.. looked over our ward list selected 4 families to give books of mormon to so that they can pray and fast to give that book of mormon to someone or a family that they know! :)) We are really pumped about how some of them have gone and are ready to see the fruits of all of us working together in the work of the Lord! :)))
I love being a missionary I love my Savior and Redeemer and I know that He lives and loves us! Never forget the simplicity of this Gospel! :))
Love you all!
HERMANA JENSON

Oh and p.s. we are going to the temple on the 18th so I will be writing that day instead of Monday! :)) Love you all!

LA CONFERENCIA GENERAL! :)))))) Oct. 2016

Gosh  I wish I had a billion hours to tell you all the answers that I received from conference and tell you all how much I felt the spirit and all how much I love these men chosen of God to guide us in these later days.. but I don't..so I will tell you some of my favorite things and some of the impressions that I felt! :))

From the womens conference  I loved Bonnie L. Oscarsons talk,, I felt so grateful to be a missionary to take this time of my life to really study the doctrine of Christ to be able to help others understand and come unto Him. There is no surprise that the world is so wicked, prophets for years and years have seen our day and told us all the things we need to do to prepare for these latter days… and here we are. We should be prepared, now is our time to put all of our preparation in action. Don't be surprised but go forward with Faith and understanding! "If we don’t teach our children and youth true doctrine—and teach it clearly—the world will teach them Satan’s lies."

Wow I am so grateful to be a missionary at this time and to know that when my mission finishes I will still be a missionary WE ARE ALL CALLED TO BE MISSIONARIES! We have the spirit to guide us to the people who are ready and need the gospel. Like Dallin H. Oaks said.. we cannot judge who is ready to hear the Gospel.. but we can be disciples of Him at all times and in all things and in all places! :)) I am also so grateful for the PLAN OF SALVATION.. Wow the understanding and knowledge that I have of this plan to me is one of my greatest treasures.. which many mentioned in their talks!

Gah just writing this is bringing back so many thoughts and feelings from conference I want to write them all…

Most of all I am eternally grateful for the Atoning sacrifice of our Lord and Redeemer Jesus Christ. That we CAN repent! :)) Please repent, its a gift that has been given us, let the atonement take its course in your life. Like Linda S. Reeves said that the real miracle in this life is watching the atonement work in the lives of other people, and in ourselves.. well I testify of that as a missionary I have been able to see this marvelous gift work in people and most importantly work in myself! It's beautiful. LET THE LORD WORK MIRACLES IN YOU! Many also mentioned walking out of the bishops office and being filled with JOY… this is all possible because of the atoning sacrifice of our Brother… Like Elder Russell M. Nelson said every day can be a day filled with JOY. I have a testimony of this repentance everyday, in every moment to be able to be cleansed fills us with joy! I know how it is to walk out of that bishops office and feeling the spirit so strong that you can fly, not knowing what else to do but feel grateful and cry because someone loved you enough to pay for the mistakes that you have made. I KNOW THAT MY REDEEMER LIVES. and I am grateful for Him!

Last thing.. if you are doubting and struggling with anything.. please do as Elder Ronald A. Rasband instructed us.. and humbly pray and fast to be able to REMEMBER the spiritual experiences that you have experienced in other moments in your lives!

I love this gospel sorry if these thoughts are random but I just want you to know that I love being a missionary I love teaching people the knowledge that I have come to love of this gospel and share my testimony with everyone here in the Dominican Republic!

with much love

FINALLY A LETTER FROM RACHEL

Wow what a long week and a half!! Haha so we waited all this time with much anticipation to be able to go to the Temple then late last night we received a phone call from our district leader telling us that the temple president was closing the Temple because of a hurricane that was coming today!! But in the coming weeks we will be able to go! :)) Yay!

This week was full of adventure and finding new people and working hard and sweating.. but whats new? Ha ha this week we did intercambios with the ccm twice.. and I left with a cute hermana Holton.. turns out she is from the same stake as my old stake (stake of my dad) and she went to Brighten high school and we know all the same people. (I will attatch  photo.. we think that our parents know each other!) What a small world! She heads to the Puerto Rico mission in a week! And she went to BYUH too! Ha ha just found my little twin out here! :)) I love doing intercambios and learning so much from the fresh new missionaries who have so much faith and excitement to work and talk to all these amazing people about the most amazing message! :)

We found some really good new families this week!! Three to be exact and they live really close to each other. We have been trying really hard to work with them and they are progressing really well! They are really excited about the Book of Mormon and coming to church! And we are going to have a noche de hogar with our mission President coming up! :))

I love this work and I love being a missionary! I love all of you guys and I'm grateful for your support! :))

Be praying and preparing for conference this weekend to receive the guidance we need for the next 6 months! I LOVE CONFERENCE!

I will write again on Monday!!

EL LIBRO DE MORMON

HOLA!!!!!

Another amazing week in the service of our Lord!

This week a dear family that was baptized a little over a year ago went through the temple to receive their endowments and be sealed. They are a family of a mom, dad, and two daughters(22&20 years old) The two daughters were inactive when I got here and one of them made the decision to come back to church after lots of prayer and family home evenings with them. But the other daughter would not budge when it came to coming to church. She was scared, and I felt like we had tried everything, my companion and I decided that we were just going to be patient and start with reading the Book of Mormon. we have been reading it little by little with her dissecting each part, and leaving her assignments to read.  She hadn't completed with any of them, then finally this last week when we came she told us that she had read what we told her too! Yesterday when we were greeting everyone at the door there walks up with her lovely family Vanessa! :)) How great was my joy! I asked her mom what changed her mind.. she looked at me with tears in her eyes and said..i don't know I just walked by her room this morning and she was there reading her scriptures, then asked me to kneel down with her to pray! :)

There are a few things we can learn from this story..
one: The Lords timing is everything, we can do all in our power but the results will come in His timing
two: The power of the Book of Mormon, sometimes we cannot even comprehend… IT IS POWERFUL!
three: When we are faithful and true, like these two loving parents, the Lord will never let us down, NEVER!

I love being a missionary and being able to see these amazing tender mercies of the Lord everyday and feel His love for ALL of His children! If you are not reading the Book of Mormon right now…run and go pick one up and read it!! READ IT!! and pray about it! and don't go one more day of your life without reading in it!!! and I promise that your burdens will become light, and you will feel our Saviors presence more in your life!

tengan una semana buenísima!! les amo muchísimo!
hasta la próxima

WEEK 54

Hey familia! :))

I love you all so very very much!

This week I had the amazing privilege to see another one of Gods truly converted children enter into the waters of baptism! 54 year old Miguel who I have seen be completely humbled and lifted up by our Savior Jesus Christ. His baptism was sweet and simple..with his strong and simple testimony of how this gospel brings us peace and hope! He invited his WHOLE family..his mom sisters nephews, son.. everyone!!  None of them are members and they were all there to support show him their love as a family! This really stuck out to me as I was sitting there. We teach and talk about how important the family is all day everyday and it made me really happy to know that I have a family like that, who supports me in all that I do who loves me no matter what, and that they are eternal!!! I love them and I am beyond grateful for them! :)

I also received word that Alexander and Agustin, people I was teaching in my first area were baptized!!! When a hermana told me in a conference I just started crying tears of joy.. and more when I saw their pictures! How lovely is this work.. and we are ALL apart of it! :))

I love this work I love this gospel and I love my Savior Jesus Christ! I love you all!!

This Gospel is for YOU!

This week was a week like any other.. a week of Miracles!

My prayers were answered and we had a ton of rain and wind this week.. not too much to do damage but just enough to cool everything off!

This week I realized something that I already knew but on a new level.

I was sitting on a plastic chair soaking wet hiding from the rain in front of two Haitian families who were just feasting on the words I had to say, or should I say the words Wilson was saying.Wilson speaks both Spanish and Creol really well and was helping us all understand each other better. As I sat there I could literally see the spirit working in each one of us to bring the understanding and truth of this Gospel to these families! This gospel has no limits, Gods power and gifts are unlimited! And this gospel makes us happy! REALLY HAPPY! When we live how God expects us to live and we are clean, we are gifted with the means to help other people. It doesn't matter what circumstances you are in or where you have been. God just wants you to be able to be better than you were the day before or the moment before. And I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to help people recognize that through our Savior, they CAN change and they CAN do and be all that God wants them to be!

I love this gospel with all of my heart. It is all that I am right now and I couldn't be happier! :))

Always remember who you are and trying to be like!

ETERNAL RELATIONSHIPS

Hey Everyone! :)

This week has been the hottest week of my mission every time I knelt to pray I had to fight to stay on my knees because they were sweating to much I was slipping and sliding all over the place! But there is a hurricane coming this week so we are praying that it will cool off.. I don't know if the rest of the people here are praying for the hurricane but I sure am !!!

We have been working with a few families that are Haitian and live next door to each other. This week with one of the families we taught the plan of salvation, expressed the amazing power and truths that families can be together forever, and at the end they accepted a baptismal date and they said a very spirit filled kneeling prayer at the end. When we came back on Saturday, they saw us coming and pulled out their chairs and had their pamphlets out and were ready with questions! I love seeing this gospel brighten up peoples lives! It makes me remember over and over again the light that the gospel brings me in my life! In working with a lot of families we talk about eternal relationships a lot.. and this week in relief society we talked about eternal relationships. I am so grateful for the eternal relationships that I will be able to have with my family, but more importantly for the opportunity that I have now in my mission to strengthen my eternal relationship with my Savior in heaven, and our God! I love them and I testify that they live!

I love my mission. every second of it! I hope you guys can feel the love of our Redeemer this week and can recognize the light the gospel brings each of us!

Remember that Gods miracles are limited to our faith! Love, hermana Jenson
