My Dominican Mom

REALLY REALLY HAPPY THIS WEEK! :)))

*Completed with 7 meses this week!

*We are having changes in our house my El Salvadorania is leaving for the capital.. and we are getting an american in our house.. I will no longer be the only american in my house.

*I learned how to cook more Dominican food.

* I am making new friends! :)

I don't have a lot of time this week but I want to tell you about one of our investigators. Her name is hermana Dignora... she is the one that is teaching me how to cook and pictures are attached.. she is absolutely amazing.
This is her story: so she has a really bad foot.. her skin is slowly falling off her foot and her leg is black. As of 4 months ago they told her they would have to amputate it, but she said no and that she had faith that it would get better. Then one day when she was laying in her bed and just crying because of the pain and when she was thinking of giving up, and thinking really hard bad thoughts, the missionaries knocked on her door. There isn't one time that we visit her that she doesn't tell us what a mirical we are and this Gospel is. Since we have been visiting her, her foot and leg have gotten so much better!! You can literally see the miracle before your eyes the black black parts of her skin are slowly going away as she progresses in the gospel. It's really been a testimony builder for me and the power that our Father in Heaven has, only according to our faith!  I am reminded that everything is possible through our Savior and His atoning sacrifice! She is like my Dominican mom! :) I really find it a blessing to help her in her path to our Father In Heaven!

I love you all!! Remember our Saviors atoning sacrifice but more importantly remember that on the 3rd day his tomb was empty! HE LIVES!  and I know it! He blesses us!! We are loved and blessed!!

The Temple is the house of God, a place of love and beauty...

I just want to first off tell every single one of you how overwhelmed I am when I open my mail every week and see your lovely letters and words of love and support for me! :) These last few weeks have been a little rocky here in the casa of Ocoa.. but we have never felt the presence of the Lord in more abundance helping us through these difficult times! Like a wise wise man I know once told me... these rocky paths are just helping me smooth out my rough edges to be the beautiful stone that the Lord wants me to be! THANK YOU COACH CRUZ!

Happy relief society week/day this week! We made a salad for the relief society party.. classic Dominican food! Haha it was our way to show our appreciation! Oh and a shout out to my mom and the stake relief society and all you guys do! I love you! :))

Like my caption, I testify of the words of this song! I had the wonderful opportunity to enter into the temple this week. I know without a doubt that the temple is His house and He dwells within those walls.. and that we can find love, peace, joy, answers, comfort, and guidance in this holy house. Just like I did this week! I found answers and guidance!!! I felt so much love and peace! :)) Please go to the temple, always be worthy to enter the temple! :)))

This week we also celebrated 2 cumple años in our house one of my companion that just completed with 22 years and my other house mate hermana Alas with 21 años!! I love them... and I love CAKE!!! Hahah I have eaten so much this week! Hahaha

This week I had the opportunity to give a talk in our sacrament meeting! I chose to talk on obedience and the love that we have for our Heavenly Father and Savior it's what drives us to be obedient! There were two examples that I shared that I would like to share with you all.

The first is when Jesus was in Gethsemane and was atoning for our sins.. He didn't have to suffer this pain and sadness, but because He was obedient to the Father He did, in this moment He asked the Father to take this away from Him but the Father sent Him a comforting angel... this is like us... when we are obedient and suffer what we need to, we will be comforted and receive blessings from our dear kind and graciouse Heavenly Father!

The second is when Jesus was on the cross... He could have summoned angels, so easily, to come and take Him off this cross of shame and pain and sadness but He was obedient to the will of the Father.. and because of this great act of love and obedience for His Father and for each one of us. WE all.. EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US.. have the opportunity to be forgiven when we are NOT obedient.. and we all have the chance to try again! How great is that? Now when I think of the times that I don't want to be obedient.. I feel really dumb...and little.. because nothing can compare to what my Savior did for me, and my family! :) BE OBEDIENT!
I promise that there are mountains of blessing that our Father in Heaven wants to give to us, all we have to do is act.. and be obedient and I promise they will come! :)

This week.. the week of Easter.. SEMANA SANTA.. here it's celebrated all week long! :) I have some scriptures that I would like each of you to read and ponder every night this week. My family here (my house, branch) will be doing the same! As we reflect on the life and the resurrección of our savior Jesus Christ ... the photo is attached. (it's the last picture on her blog)

Still I cannot express my love for each and every one of you!! I love you and thank you all for everything so very much! :)

con mucho amor

ALMA 26

I'm sorry I don't have much to say this week but I do want to say that I am grateful for all of you in my life! :) Family and Friends! I feel so especially blessed!

One of my dearest friends sent me an email telling me to read this chapter of The Book of Mormon! I encourage each of you to read this chapter and remember that every member a missionary! :)) There is so much that we can do... and we have been so blessed!

I'm learning so much every week every day and every second, and I am seeing miracle after miracle and the hand of The Lord helping and guiding me! I feel extra special to be able to be a part of this marvelous work... the work of the Savior! :)))

Have a good week! Remember that the blessings come from obedience to the small and simple things! :))

Praying for you all always!

This addition is from mom....This has been actually a rough couple of weeks for Rachel because of her companion (whom she loves dearly) is struggling with the loss of her grandmother. She doesn't want to do anything but stay in her room and mourn for her loss. Rachel is trying so hard to still be obedient and help her companion the best she can. She hasn't been able to teach much because her companion won't leave the house. As you can tell her letters aren't complaining at all but they are not her usual bubbly self. She could really use all your prayers.

Had a noche de hogar with this cute family that the hermanas are teaching! They are amazing! :))) familia Santana

COMPANIONSHIP, COMPAÑERISMO

Wow. Hello.. Can I just tell you guys how grateful I am to be a representative of Jesus Christ!!
 I AM SO GRATEFUL!

This week:

*I learned how to cook the "Bandera" typical Dominican food.. arroz w/con con, habichuelas, y pollo!!! yum yum! from one of our investigators Dignora! :)

*Dignora has a really bad leg.. with a really bad disease.. but she was at church this week FOR THE FIRST TIME! It was a total surprise and I was so happy I almost screamed in the middle of sacrament! Oops!

*We went to Parra.. its an area even father in the mountains than we already are... like 45 minutes walking across a river then straight up a mountain (I didn't know I could sweat so much) but I can! :) Hahaha this area is closed.. because practically all the area is baptized but all menos activos. So we go there once a week to reactivate! But we can't teach anyone new there!  But its beautiful and there are members there that are so faithful and shine with the light of Christ!

*I have an ear infection! :) but don't worry mom I got some medicine.. haha from a Dominican pharmacy.... buenooooo

This week I learned a lot about companionship's..that we have in this life and the spiritual companionship of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! :) One, that we are never alone.. He is Always there for us no matter how alone we may feel in this world. NEVER lose this personal companionship with The Lord! Remember He is there for you always and loves you. I was reading in Mateo.. Mathew... and when the Lord is walking on water and Pablo (Paul) goes to walk out to him but starts to sink the first thing that The Lord does is reach out His hand.. then he talks to Pablo and asks why he has little faith... but it wasn't because he had little faith that the Lord just let him sink... no matter what we do, think, say, The Lord will have His hand stretched out always for you!!! The Atonement is real and the plan of our Father in Heaven is true! Tell everyone you know about it! :)))

I know it! :)) and because of it I am who I am .... HAPPY!

Love you all have a good week!
